Life doesn't make sense

For many people today, life doesn't make sense. They are having a hard time
dealing with the many problems our world brings to them and our world just
seems to be spinning out of control. We look at our world and wonder, "Why
has this happened, what is wrong with my life and our world?"

I met a young woman recently in her twenties that had been married several
times and was divorced and living with a man. She said that she didn't
believe in marriage anymore. She said it was only a piece of paper and
didn't make someone love you any more. She is not very happy and doesn't
have a lot of hope for the future. I don't have to wonder why, it's because
the signposts have been changed in our world.

In December 1944 an event happened that could have changed the outcome of
World War II. The Allied army was experiencing success and moving steadily
across Western Europe. At this point a counter attack was launched that
became the decisive battle which became known as the "Battle of the Bulge".

Why was this battle, almost lost? It seems that a few days before, German
soldiers dressed in American uniforms, along with American jeeps had been
parachuted behind the American lines.

These men carried no weapons and they had only one mission. Their mission
was to drive all over the countryside where the Allied army was expected to
travel and either take down the signs or point them in the wrong way. The
results were that the Allied army almost lost this battle.

What's the point? We live in a time when many of the signposts have been
torn down or changed. Moral signposts, that show us the answer to the
question of "what is the right sexual preference", or "what about Abortion".
Ethical signposts that answer the question of "is it wrong to cheat, lie or
steal?" And Religious signposts that answer the question of "What does God's
word really say and does it still hold true for today".

Should we really wonder why to many people life just doesn't make sense! If
the signs are changed there is no way we can find our direction. There is no
way we can know if we are headed in the right way. How can we possibly know
the truth for living if we rely upon what the world tells us? After all, it
is the people of this world who are the ones who have changed the signs.

I have known a lot of people through the years that have prayed that they
might soon leave this world and go to be with God. It is because they can't
bear to face the evil of this world and are looking forward to a time of
peace with God.

There is an interesting passage of scripture in John 17 where we find a
prayer of Jesus recorded. He prays for his disciples and has these
particular words that deal with my message today. In verses 15-17 he says,
"I'm not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them safe
from the evil one. They are not part of this world any more than I am. Make
them pure and holy by teaching them your words of truth."(NLT) The King
James Version translates the last part of this verse in this way, " Sanctify
them through thy truth: thy word is truth."

Are you living in confusion, does your world seem to just not make sense?
How much time do you spend reading the true signs, the Word of God? There is
only one place to find the truth to the questions of life! God's Word, the
Bible.
